finding your way home

finding your way home
you start out knowing where you are
who you are
who you love
who they love
why they love

then life and strife
hurls us in the surf
throws us upon the  rocks
into the brambles
that tear at our skin and beliefs
til we are left scarred and scabbed

and in a sudden eternity
we no longer know where we are
who we are
why we love
why we are loved
-we know only doubt and darkness-

what we need to forget is  that the wounds are on our surface
the bruise is skin deep
the scab mere superficial

our strength lies within
it rises from the deep -but only when we let it
encourage it
coax it

if we do we will find
we still love who we love
they love who they have always loved
why they do does not matter as much as THAT they do
and where you are matters not at all -

because you are together
